ABOUT LAURIE

Laurie has worked with youth and families since 2000, first as a classroom teacher and then a social worker, in school and community organizations. She is a licensed clinical social worker (since 2012) and a yoga therapist, certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (since 2017). Laurie specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults and offers a holistic and individualized approach to therapy. She incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and somatic (body-focused) approaches in helping clients to navigate the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as issues around identity and family and social dynamics. Laurie co-founded and directs The Oxygen Project: Yoga for Youth and coordinates and instructs yoga teacher training programs, as well as yoga courses relevant to mental health and social service at Urban Breath Yoga. She enjoys being in nature as much as possible (only in warmer times), traveling as often as she can, taking dance classes as an amateur, and reading fiction focused on times past and other cultures.
